Is this overkill or even needed for such a small sub? Better/cheaper alternatives for an 8"?** A: I don't think of this product as a way to prevent sound from moving through the building, but as a way of preventing unwanted room modes from 'muddying" the low frequencies. I have a number of these both the full size and the smaller version you are looking at and they do a tremendous job of adding clarity to the low frequencies, but I can still hear the bass downstairs in my basement. I would highly recommend the product, but I don't think it's going to prevent your neighbors from getting upset if you watch a Marvel film at a fairly loud level. Hope this helps. **Q: Is there really much of a difference between the Subdude and Ampdude? Minus looks of course.** A: I'm not sure what ampdude is doing, subdude's foam seems to be proprietary. Meaning that r and d developed for this product seem to do something with the sound waves. That being said this design seems to bring a noticeable difference when placed under the sub. **Q: Will this reduce the amount of bass that travels downstairs when my subwoofer is upstairs?** A: They should. If you have them on a wooden floor you can feel and hear the bass throughout the house. Resting your sub on it should reduced the boominess.I had the opposite problem. I had 2 Laradigm subs on my basement, resting in thin carpet on concrete. My bass was completely gone. The bass indidnhave was bloated and boomy. I added 2 of these and all of a sudden I could hear and feel my bass again. Best money I ever spent.
