Review: Great tool, works as advertised - but a couple of cautions. - Works as advertised. Easy to set-up and use. Works great. This actually my second one. The first one I got somewhere else, and loved it. But it met with an unfortunate accident of having loaned it out to a relative who lost it when doing 'spring cleaning' at home, and realized too late it was tossed out in a bunch of other stuff by moms little helpers but not before the weekly trash pick-up. I would caution though: 1. You should also order extra belts. Belt life varies with the quality-hardness of steel and frequency of belt use. A harder steel is going to make belt life shorter so you might get maybe 3 - 6 sharpening session per belt if the knife is not too dull, where a softer steel you might get 7 - 10 sharpening sessions per belt - and both of these also depend on frequency of sharpening and how dull the blade was before you sharpened. If you are sharpening and it takes longer to form a burr or no burr forms but the knife seems kinda sharp, then you need a new belt. 2. Make sure the surface you do it on is not used for food/drink preparation, and if it is then make sure its cleaned after sharpening is done. There are very fine 'aluminum oxide' particles released as the blade is drawn across the belt. You do not want this in your food or drink. Also make sure you wash your hands when done to remove any of this, you do not want this to get into your eyes. The 'aluminum oxide' particles are very fine and the amount released is small, but it can irritate the eyes, nose, and throat, and repeated exposure to high levels of its dust may lead to serious lung conditions like pulmonary fibrosis (note: this is not considered 'high level' but you still want to take precautions). Its recommended you wear some gloves and eye protection and a mask is not a bad idea at all - but to be fair, unless you get your face right down at the tool you probably will not have an eye or inhalation problem, but better safe than sorry. Fortunately, the 'aluminum oxide' particles are heavy enough that they do not go airborne very much and stay mostly on the surface of where the sharpener is being used and on the sharpener its self. All similar sharpeners are like this, its just the nature of the way the belts have to be made.

**Q: Can any Joe Smo use this to put a nice edge on a most knives or is there an extensive learning feeling process like stone sharpening?**

**Q: Would you sharpen bench chisels with this product?**
A: I wouldn’t recommend sharpening chisels or plane blades with a flexible abrasive belt, as those typically require a flat grind. A flexible belt creates a convex edge. I’d recommend you take a look at our Wood Tool Sharpener, the WS3000.  It was specifically designed to sharpen woodworking tools. **Q: Does this only sharpen at 20 and 25 degree angles or can it handle Asian knives at 10-12 degree angles?**
A: The WSKTS Mk2 sharpens the 2 most common angles, which are 20° and 25°. If you need to sharpen down to 10°-12°, I recommend either our Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener (WSBCHPAJ) or our Ken Onion Edition KTS (WSKTS-KO) with the optional Blade Grinding Attachment (WSSAKO81112). The Work Sharp MK2 is hands down one of the best sharpening systems I’ve used. It’s simple, consistent, and delivers razor-sharp edges fast. Works as advertised. Easy to set-up and use. Works great. This actually my second one. The first one I got somewhere else, and loved it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Such a step up from the original sharpener.

I bought the very first version of the electric sharpener when they were new to the market and used it for over a decade. I had to replace the bands obviously due to use and had to replace the guards once time due to wear from the thousands of times a knife blade was pulled through them. That being said, over 10 years later, I still have that device and it runs like the day I got it. This week I upgraded to the MK2 design finally and what a change that was. I had no clue just how much easier it would be to use and how much better it would sharpen my knives in the kitchen. With the MK2 I don't need to have any skill really, no special knowledge of knife sharpening, nothing more than being able to pull a knife across a belt at a similar speed. I was able to sharpen knives that have been beaten to death in just a few minutes to literally shave my arm. I was shocked. I think one of the biggest factors is the accuracy of the blade guide vs the old model. The Mk2 does a great job at putting the blade exactly where it needs to be to get that perfect burr and then again to get that laser sharp edge we usually only see on high dollar knives or knives the first time we use them. Even my old cleaver is razer sharp now after just a few minutes. I think it took maybe 10 pulls on the grinder belt, then 10 more on the fine finishing belt and I was done. I had to warn the family to be careful with the knives as they are sharp again. Being so easy to set up means it only takes me a moment to get the device on the table and ready for action. This means I will use it more often to maintain my sharp knives. If its a pain to set up and becomes a task I am not going to resharpen as often. This tool removes all that worry. I find myself even taking it our just to put a fresh edge on my finer knives before I cut a nice meat or carve a bird. Sure there are way to get even sharper knives but that is for people who enjoy the art of knife sharpening. A lot of folks really do enjoy the satisfaction of a wet stone and metal and years of skill producing an amazing edge. If you are that person, this isn't your tool. But if you are like most folks and want to be able to make chef sharp kitchen knives with no skill, no learning time, no practice, and minimal effort, this is your tool for sure. I really love this MK2 and can't wait to use it for years to come.
