Plus it forces me to formulate in French my answer from English. Most of my review books start with French and so I learned how to translate,read better than to formulate in my head first a sentence. It is not for true beginners and it states this in the Introduction.Pros:1. Great for false beginners who need to refresh their French or CEFR scale A1 level learners looking for a practice workbook.2. Clear, concise unit exercises.3. The 3rd Edition updates some of the minor issues that were still present in the 2nd Edition (missing gender distinction in the Vocabulary tables, etc.), as well as several of the facts in the "Faits divers" (Fun Facts) when it comes to who's married to whom or now an ex-spouse.5. Both pro and con, it has accompanying audio (for the exercise answers) on the McGraw-Hill Language Lab website and smartphone app.Cons:1. You won't study verb tenses or moods that other "beginner" (CEFR A1-A2) French textbooks consider standard: Imparfait, Futur simple, Impératif, Conditionnel Présent, Subjonctif Présent. McGraw-Hill published "Practice Makes Perfect: Intermediate French Grammar" by the same author that covers these subjects and more, but it hasn't been updated since 2013.2. McGraw-Hill Language Lab website/app. The website/app doesn't bookmark the exercises you have done or listened to, so there's no point to install it. I wish they would offer MP3 downloads instead like Colloquial languages or Didier.
