This is my second Chef's Choice 830B. The non-stick cooking surface failed on the first one and then the fuse blew out. Even with the problems with the waffle maker, I liked it so much that I purchased a second unit. On this unit that I bought in December 2009, the internal fuse kept blowing out and I returned it for repair two or three times until I decided to try to find out why the fuse was blowing out and replaced the fuse myself. The repair service was free and was excellent but it was costing my $15 for shipping to send it back. I discovered that the problem making the fuses blow out is that resistance of the heater element is too low when used in the "Crisp Exterior" mode as the two heater elements are paralleled for the Crisp mode. Replacing the fuse was a difficult job for me, but I was able to disassemble the unit and replace the fuse myself, and for the past two years or so, the waffle maker has worked perfectly but in order to keep the fuse from blowing, I can use it only in the "Uniform Texture" mode. The uniform texture is ok, but I did like the Crisp mode. Anyhow, I still use it, only in the Uniform texture mode. The non-stick cooking surface is still ok on this waffle maker and it still bakes the waffles quickly and uniformly. **Q: Where was this made?** A: German designed, Manufactured in China, is what it says on the label. **Q: Does the hinge on the left wobble more than the one on the right? (Does it have more "play"?)** A: Yes, but it does not affect the even cooking of the waffle. **Q: whats is the volt for this machine? 120v or 220v-120v ? i will order this machine to Turkey, we have 220v does this machine work ?** A: According to this reference: http://www.adaptelec.com/index.php?main_page=document_general_info&products_id=282, voltage is 110-120 in most home plugs in Canada, although voltage is higher in some special plugs for big appliances like stoves.
