Unlike the horizontal slicers that require constant pressure to maintain alignment, this device gets rid of that problem. Very easy to clean and with several slice options, I doubt it could be improved upon. Too much force crushed the vegetable. Two minor issues are that it slides a bit on the countertop while rotating the handle and it works a bit better if you apply constant pressure to the top knob while turning the handle so your hand will heat up while cranking. Use an over mitt to solve both problems. I now have spaghetti back in my life! Having said that, the problem with grains EVERYONE is not gluten but Genetically Modified cells and seeds that are made to be harmful and addictive (GMO). Read the book or watch the videos called Wheat Belly by Dr. Davis to understand that better. It's not just wheat but ALL GRAINS including exotic and ancient grains have been screwed with as if there's a death wish upon us! The possibilities of usage are many, and limited only by your diet and imagination. The heavy-duty claims are generally true. While it does feel like the Spiralizer is sturdy in your hands, I would not be in a hurry to test what would happen if it were to fall off the counter. Another concern is that the bottom does not lock into place. This typically will not be much of an issue, but it does mean that in some instances you may need to hold on to the Spiralizer so it stays connected to the bottom reservoir (especially if allowing children kitchen-helpers to crank). Similarly, the crank handle does not lock into place tightly, so that will also come out if you’re not careful. Thanks to the Spiralizer’s design, it does feel safe. The blades are small and centrally located underneath the loaded fruit or vegetable. One complaint people tend to have with all of the Spiralizer-type devices (regardless of manufacturer) is that you once your vegetable or fruit has run through, you are left with the center of the vegetable or fruit you are using. We did not see this as an issue for our usage, and simply cut up the core of the zucchini and put it into our pasta as we might have done anyways. I absolutely love this spiralizer. I was very excited to order this vertical spiralizer. I have purchased a different veggi spiralizer, and thought it was good, until receiving this one! This vertical one has a bowl that the veggies dispense into, which holds a lot! It is very easy to assemble and use right away. It comes with three different cutting options by adding the thin spiral blade or thick spiral blade. The third cut is a ribbon cut, which has been my favorite so far. This is used with the blade attached without adding any attachments. The handle is simple to add to the gadget and easy to turn. This machine is so simple to use. Add your favorite vegetable, lock it in place, and crank the handle! You will be amazed. It really makes cooking vegetables fun!
