These silicone lids seal more tightly (fewer spills in lunchboxes) and remain flexible. We bought some of these as a replacement for a lid that had cracked, and now have replaced all our Pyrex lids with these. They do a superior job and we feel better having silicone lids near our food than plastic. We hand wash these. Habit, I guess.
