Review: UPDATED: One of the 140mm fans doesn’t work - I haven’t been able to build a pc in over 10 years, so I was pretty excited to put one together. I ordered the Montech X3 Mesh & I was initially pretty happy with it… until after I spent several days putting everything together & discovered that the front middle fan isn’t spinning, although the LEDs work. As far as everything else, I think it’s a great case for the sale price of $50. UPDATE: After contacting the seller Skytech, they offered me a partial refund because of the non-working fan. They also gave me an email address for the manufacturer Montech. After communicating with them via email, they sent me a replacement fan which arrived today. I haven’t tried replacing the defective fan yet, but I’m trusting that the new one will work. Overall, an excellent customer service experience in dealing with both companies. Changing my rating to add another star 👍 UPDATE #2: Montech did send me another fan, but it’s not the same one. It’s a 2-wire instead of 3-wire (which means it can’t be monitored/controlled by the mobo or software) & the LED lights are different enough that it’s noticeable. Not the end of the world & I do appreciate the fact that they sent one. Negatives: •Took 1 week to receive, which is a bit much •1 fan doesn’t spin (replaced)* •Fans are LED & not addressable RGB as the pictures might lead some to believe (although this is pretty clearly stated). •Fans have older style Molex connections that are all daisy chained together. •Cabling is fairly inelegant & comes held together with metal twist ties. •No PC speaker. •Materials aren’t the greatest. The gauge of the metal is pretty thin & a bit flimsy. •No rubber grommets in the cabling passthroughs •It’s perhaps a bit small for some ATX builds Positives: •Although the geometric aesthetic seems heavily “inspired” by Fractal brand cases, it’s a nice looking case regardless. •Pretty quiet at idle considering the 6 original case fans, the 2 additional fans I added & a 3 fan GPU •Good, simple design of the side panel, which is easily removable by just lifting it off, although the nylon ribbon loop used as a handle might turn some people off. •Side panel is tempered glass instead of plexiglass/plastic. •Small-ish mid tower case, but ATX motherboard, top mounted radiator in a push/pull configuration, 3 140mm, 5 120mm fans, a Corsair RM750 PSU & a 303mm Radeon 6650xt 3 fan GPU all fit in a nice looking package (although connecting the wiring & cable management is a bit of a chore). •Good airflow •It has a decent magnetic dust filter on the top, although that’s actually not great for airflow & will actually trap dust & restrict the hot air that you want to exhaust from your case. •I’ve seen some reviews that complain about the rear expansion card slots being the cheap kind that you have to bend or cut to remove, but the ones I removed when installing a GPU were secured with a slot & screw (much better). •Although the specs say it officially supports GPU’s up to 303mm I managed to squeeze in an MSI Gaming X Trio GeForce RTX 3080 which is 323mm with maybe even a couple of mm’s to spare. Conclusion: *After living with this case for about a month & the experiences that I had with both the seller & manufacturer, I’m adding the 5th star to my rating. It’s more of a budget case so you can’t expect perfection, but for $50 it’s an extremely good case & continues to perform very well.
Review: Great compact case for full atx - Good case if you want ATX in a smaller case. Great airflow, fits my rtx 5070 with plenty room. Upgraded my fans to thermal take and plugged them into my motherboard for RGB control. I'm running a 12600kf clocked to 5.1ghz with a thermal right 240 aio stays at 62 degrees over a 1 hour stress test. 60 degrees in game playing cyberpunk 2077 with raytracing psycho settings. On a side note not related to this case... If you go 240 aio you can get a arctic liquid freezer 3 pro and it comes with a 38mm thick radiator instead of industry standard of 25mm giving you the efficiency of a 360aio and it has a built in vrm fan. I will be upgrading to that for my 14700k upgrade I will be doing. Overall this has been a solid case for the last 2 years with great airflow decent to build in. I case swapped my wife's into it as well hers has the factory fans still in it with a dual fan 4060 (3rd pic)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: the fans dont spin but show rgb, i plugged them with a sata cable to my psu and my argb cord doesnt fit my motherboard since its a 3 pin connector?**
A: Confused about the RBG lighted fans? Montech doesn't explain much about them.
The case fans have their own controller, they are all plugged into it when your case arrives.
First unwrap the velcro ties that hold all the wiring and find the wires that all the fans are connected together with.
1. There is a wire that comes with the case that plugs into the bottom of the fan controller hub on the case, and the other end plugs into the 3 pin RGB controller at the bottom of your motherboard. This is how you gain control with your motherboard.
However, the lights have a seemingly endless number of effects that can be controlled by the reset button on the case utilizing the case mounted controller. Notice the reset button is plugged into the top of the RGB case mounted controller. Simply pressing the reset button changes the patterns and colors of the RGB lights in the fans. To change control of the lights between the case controller and your motherboard, hold the reset button down for 3 seconds once you get everything hooked up and working.
2. There is a black power connector on the fan leads that plugs into a connector on a standard SATA power cable. This is what powers the LED lights.
3. There is a single white fan power connector attached to the fan leads that plugs into the #1 Aux/Case Fan connector on your motherboard. This is what powers the fans. All the fans spin at the same rate together off the one plug, they are all wired together.

If you hook it all up as outlined, everything will work with about 20-ish different LED patterns and colors you can cycle through with your motherboards RGB controller software, or by simply pressing the reset button on the case. You switch between the 2 methods of control by holding the reset button down for a few seconds. You will see all the fans flash when the setting is changed from the case controller to your motherboard controller. (you will need to install the RGB controller software for your motherboard to make the motherboard controller work)

**Q: Will the case support this motherboard https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/b09qfsbr8x/ref=ox_sc_act_image_3?smid=ahg2mi785yuy7&psc=1**
A: Yes it is plenty big enough to support any size mother board. I feel like I should add the "usb 3.0" ports on the case are actually usb 1.0.

**Q: How much power does the fans take**
A: I'm not sure but case fans usually use 1.8 watts but should be in a range of 1-4 watts.

**Q: What are the dimensions of the mesh on top**
A: 5 1/4 x 12

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Roomy case with 6 fans for a good price
*by M***Y on October 9, 2024*

Nice roomy case. Handles my 300mm long GPU no sweat. 6 fans comes with it. They all light up RGB and are the same. They cannot be synch or programmed, just static RGB, no breathing/cycling. But you get 6 working large fans that are quiet in the price and they're preinstalled and prewired and it's done well. Lots of room and places for cable management. Looks modern without looking like cheese. Comes with mesh filters on all areas. Overall can't say anything bad about it, its a good case, easy to build in, no fussy weird stuff. Lots of room on the back side for cables so you're not trying to stuff it all and hide it.
