I want to be able to slide my chair in without having to lower it, if possible.** A: If I wish to put my chair under the desk I have to lower it. It all depends on your height. However, I don't mind lowering the chair every day. If is a simple operation. **Q: Is the top smooth so that you can write on a piece of paper?** A: No. There are several reviews which say you should write in a notebook or on a folder rather than on a singular piece of paper. It is definitely textured to look/feel like wood **Q: Can the top board be drilled/cut to place cable routing grommets?** A: If you're comfortable drilling through sturdy veneered particle board (I suggest wearing a mask) I'm sure that'd be easy to do. **Q: Does anyone know if you could use the loctek dh7 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/b017xjqwkw/ref=twister_b01c8h01cy?_encoding=utf8&psc=1) on this desk?** A: I think it would work if you mounted it with through bolts and kept the monitor positioned over the desk. I wouldn't extend the arm out past the edge of the table (suspended in air), I think it would be too heavy and conceivably break. It is a great value considering the price.
