I am by no means a professional chef and I always aspired to have a decent set of knives. No matter how many times I sharpened my other "cheap" knives, they never stayed sharp for more than 1 use and the blades pitted terribly. This set is good quality and they are nicely balanced. I asked a chef friend who uses Zwilling brand knives what he thought of them. After using them he said that for the price they were a decent set that he would use at home.
