Just test any you have doubts over on anything (sink/tub not in your toilet man..lol) to see what one does/don't remove. Either they remove a microscopic or thick layer each time youll see. Any scratching thats seen from them then it will remove the coating sooner or later & most all of them do scratch it. Some I seen scratch hard stainless grids even but' some scratches are simply harder to see until the light is just right. Not being anal over my grill I never tested mine, sorry. I just assumed it does like others & just use it with gentle pressure & short as time as its needed. I only use charcoal grills not gassers & burn my grids off good on startup too though. One should never scrub on a cold porcelain grid fwiw, you just scrub more & harder too. Just as my flames settle down enough I dip this stainless brush in a tray of water (lightly wet it or it slows a fire) and lightly scrub my grids. This will steam clean your grid as you scrub them, allow grids to dry well and toss your food on. Sorry its been decades since I used gas units but this works well if the grill gets hot enough. I used to install natural gas lights & both factory/customized gas grill setups so the only gas grills I used were pro models not the small portable tank style grills that simply never got hot till the next morning..lol. Over 35+yrs ago. Since charcoal fires burn everything off grids with/without water you never scrub them much anyway so your grids & brushes last much longer so never concerned me much.
