Despite the increase in tolerance, sharks continued to be deterred from interacting for the duration of each trial when in the presence of an active Shark Shield™." I am not sure how long the trial lasted, but it seems the product still works despite the increased tolerance over time. Also keep in mind that this study was done with bait in open water, with sharks taking dozens of passes on the bait, a much different scenario than someone surfing or diving. With that said, I talked to a representative from Shark Shield who told me that the electric field strength has not changed from model to model. Our neighbor has the same product and swears that it does distract sharks ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible quality *by M***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2021* First unit flooded immediately on the first dive in 20-25ft of water. Second unit lasted for ~18 months and then would turn on (lights came on appropriately) but there was no electric pulse. I sent the device to the manufacturer in June for replacement. They said it wasn't a battery issue, which means to me that this is another quality failure.
