Review: Loved every picture and every page! - What a fantastically gorgeous book! I have had the great privilege of taking one of Maryanne's classes in person and not only is she an incredibly talented and skilled weaver, she is also a wonderful teacher and author. She not only teaches you the basics of weaving but how to draw inspiration from the world around you and how to turn it into your own brand of art. This is a perfect beginners' guide to the art of weaving, giving a fantastic overview on the tools, the fibers, and stiches of weaving as well as a particularly informative section on color design. If you are looking for a step by step instruction on how to completely mimic one of her unique amazing designs like a color by numbers book, this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for a great guide on trying the art of weaving, getting inspired by gorgeous pictures and experimenting with your own versions of woven art, then look no further, because this is perfection. What a great jumping off point!
Review: Inspired by the variety of projects - This is a beautiful publication from a very inspiring fiber artist. Unlike many of the other reviewers who seem disappointed by the lack of wall hanging examples within the book, I was pleasantly surprised and very inspired by the variety of projects. When you think "modern weaving" your mind goes straight to wall tapestries, which you can find examples of everywhere these days. In this book, Maryanne inspires you to think beyond the wall and apply the art form to a variety of projects around your home. I'm anxious to weave my own stool cover and maybe even a rug. Perhaps the book description needs modification to reflect the content of the book more accurately, but regardless, I'm quite happy with and inspired by the content of this book.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun Introduction to Weaving
*by E***Y on September 24, 2016*

I like this book--it's imaginative and playful and a fun introduction to weaving But it's only an introduction. If you're looking for inspiration, you need to go to the books from Hippiedom, particularly "Needleweaving," by Esther Warner Dendel, and "Weaving Off-Loom," by Dona Z. Meilach and Lee Erlin Snow. Plus Sarita R. Rainey published a new edition of "Weaving Without a Loom" which is still in print. For the big thrills, there's "Beyond Craft: The Art Fabric," by Mildred Constantine and Jack Lenor Larsen and, more recently, "Fiber: Sculpture, 1960 - Present," ed. by Jenelle Porter. There really are only 2 ways to weave--either follow someone else's projects or learn the basics and fly off on your own. I choose to fly. Yee-hah!
