A car wash put a four inch deep scratch in my hood. I have a new bumper swipe on the back from someone who couldn't parallel park, and there are deep scratches in the left painted plastic fender (maybe a bike?) This rubbing compound shined the scratch in the hood so it's barely noticeable. Sure there is a scar in the shine when looking at an angle, but the noticeable white scratch is gone. Same with the fender although the plastic took more work. The rear bumper cleaned up great. Oxidation from parking on the street in salt air is a breeze. I'm not a body technician so I wouldn't be comfortable using power tools with this. It's so effective by hand that with tools used incorrectly, I know it could burn right through the paint. It is exactly what you would expect from 3M and it works. It might not make some types of damage perfect but it's the best thing on the market for making it better. If your paint is in bad shape, use a swirl remover, then go to the paint sealant/glaze, then wax. **Q: Does this work to take scratches and scuffs out of cars?** A: It will take out scuffs and very light scratches, anything deeper but still in the clearcoat. but not in the colorcoat you can use ultrafine sandpaper and watersand the scratch out then use the compound to buff up the shine, you do need an electric or air powered buffing wheel though hand compounding will only work with light scuffing, machine buffing is always best and fastest. **Q: Is this abrasive enough to "sand" down a touch up paint area? I need to remove a little touch up paint to make the area even with the rest of the car** A: Old question, but I thought I would answer this as I have experience in this. Yes, it can smooth out/sand down touch up paint. I used this very product to do that. When paint first dries it is softer still and this will do a good job. It will take a couple weeks for the paint to fully harden. In fact, some touch up paint pens recommend using a rubbing compound, like this, on a t-shirt or microfiber cloth material to smooth out the new job before applying a clear coat and repeating after that dries. If the job was let to dry for, say, 2 weeks you will encounter a new issue that will require 3000-4000 sanding paper before using this product followed by a polish after a clear coat. **Q: Does this product (3M Compound) have a money back guarantee?** A: I wouldn’t think so, not many auto chemical companies offer a money back guarantee. Great *by S***R on April 27, 2020* I used this to restore my headlights. Great value and easy to use. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy this was to use and how well it worked. I had seen other products but they seemed complicated. And I didn't want to be bothered with all that. I used a rag, and some water (no power tools or buffing or tape) and to be honest very little effort or attention to detail Lol. It took just a few minutes. If you have patience and really work it or have a buffer you'll probably get even better results.
