You cannot just plug it in and work. The drive is encrypted requiring Bluetooth to unlock. Or via a app on phone or computer. **Q: Will this drive work (with encryption) on chromebook/chrome os? i do not see any mention of it on the user guide** A: Hello, The Chromium OS is similar to the Linux file system, which is the ext4 file system. You would need to format the drive for your system. We have included some instruction on how to accomplish this. How to Format a Drive Select the drive that will now be listed on the right side, along with all other drives connected to you Chromebook. To erase and format the drive, right-click the name of the drive and select “Format Device”. Chrome OS will format the drive with the exFAT file system. There’s no way to choose a different file system, change the drive’s partition layout, or name the drive.
