Using a reversible color-changing technology, it instantly signals toxic ammonia presence without the need for test kits or chemicals. With sensitivity down to 0.05 mg/L and a year-long lifespan, it empowers aquarium managers to prevent fish stress and fatalities proactively. ## Description Ammonia Alert is an innovative color device for continuously detecting and monitoring toxic free ammonia. A sensor changes reversibly from Yellow to green to Blue, relative to the ammonia concentration. No test Kits, chemicals, or procedures are needed. The device detects less than 0.05 mg/L (ppm) free ammonia and alerts you to the #1 killer before any sign of stress. It lasts over a year. Marine or freshwater use. In the absence of free ammonia the unit will assume a Yellow or faint yellow-green color. It is normal for the dry sensor to have a greenish hue. It may take up to a few days for a dry sensor to equilibrate with the water. No sampling of water, chemicals, or test procedures are required. The presence of the free ammonia is detectable continuously with a Response time of about 15 minutes. Response to decreasing ammonia is slower, requiring about 4 hours to go from toxic to safe on removal of ammonia. Review: Love love LOVE this - This is the best purchase I've made for my axolotl, it just hangs in the tank all the time and constantly tests the water. When I do water refills or changes it tells me how bad it gets and I can correct it. It's super ez to just stick onto the tank, tiny too. My only issue was with it no longer wanting to stick (bc my axolotl knocked it down too many times and drug it through the dirt) but the tester itself would still tell me if the water is safe or not. It's totally worth the money! Review: A must-have for every reefer - A must-have for every reefer. The Ammonia Alert badge is highly sensitive to changes in ammonia levels. You can easily see the colors change as ammonia accumulates and, if you dose a product such as Seachem Prime, you can visualize the ammonia levels return to normal. Having this in your sump or QT tank is essential. It will alert you of any issues such as bacteria die-offs or any potential decomposing matter in your tank. Highly effective and cheap. ## Features - Sachem sensor Technology - No Strips, no tests, just constant readings - For marine and freshwater use ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B000255R5G | | Allergen Information | Yam Free | | Best Sellers Rank | #20,354 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #26 in Aquarium Test Kits | | Brand | Seachem | | Brand Name | Seachem | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 3,945 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00000116001007 | | Included Components | all | | Item Form | tag | | Item Type Name | Alert badge | | Item Weight | 0.01 g | | Liquid Volume | 1 kg | | Manufacturer | Seachem Laboratories, Inc. | | Manufacturer Part Number | 10 | | Model Number | 10 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Pet Type | Fish | | Target Species | Fish | | UPC | 798256226922 617407622898 000116001007 707005108594 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Seachem - **Item Form:** tag - **Item Weight:** 0.01 Grams - **Liquid Volume:** 1 Kilograms - **Unit Count:** 1 Count ## Images ![Ammonia Alert - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81oJuXh-XOL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love love LOVE this *by M***K on August 14, 2026* This is the best purchase I've made for my axolotl, it just hangs in the tank all the time and constantly tests the water. However, after doing tons of research and deciding to purchase it after all, I realized that a lot of the negative reviews were because people weren’t quite understand just exactly how the Ammonia Alert operates. It measures the amount of unionized (dangerous) levels of ammonia in the water, whereas test kits measure both the ionized (safe) and unionized (unsafe) ammonia present in the water. Therefor, the only reading you’re getting on the Ammonia Alert is that of the toxic ammonia present in your tank. This product definitely works. A few days ago, the reading on it was at the ‘Alert’ mark, which it turned a pastel green. Then, when I checked it today, it was a pastel yellow and definitely matched the ‘Safe’ zone on the wheel. Even though the color readings can be extremely subtle, they’re pretty easy to pick out when it changes. I also compared its reading with a quick test from the API ammonia test kit, to which it came back with 0 ammonia in my aquarium. Another thing I must add is that you MUST be extremely careful when you open up the product. When you remove the plastic covering for the sensor in the middle of the color wheel, do not touch the sensor with your fingers. The oils from your fingers could affect or ruin your sensor. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this simple and cheap product. It will assure me that my fish are living well and I can take necessary action when it goes into the ‘Alert’ zone. I definitely recommend the Ammonia Alert if you’d like to monitor your aquarium’s ammonia levels while avoiding frequent water testing. ## Frequently Bought Together - Seachem Ammonia Alert - Seachem Ph Alert for Freshwater - Seachem Prime Fresh and Saltwater Conditioner - Chemical Remover and Detoxifier 500 ml --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.at/products/3560443-ammonia-alert](https://www.desertcart.at/products/3560443-ammonia-alert) --- *Product available on Desertcart Austria* *Store origin: AT* *Last updated: 2026-10-18*
