Review: DBall2 Bypass Module - I purchased this bypass module to use with the install of my Avital 4113LX remote start. Install was a breeze due to only needing one of the wires to run to the BCM on my 2007 TrailBlazer, not typical for most vehicles. Once the firmware was downloaded, install took no time. I also retained all of the factory functions of my OE key fob for door lock/unlock. I had read with 1-button remote starts, you lose the functionality of the OE key fob. This module is also Smart Start compatible if you desire to have an app and pay for the service. If you are unsure if this module will work for your vehicle, you can go to Directed website and do a search to see if it will work.
Review: ~Truly, patience is virtuous, especially when it saves you some bucks!~ - As I have recently updated or rather upgraded from a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT to a '07 Eclipse Spyder GT, that purchase also necessitated the purchase of another Viper alarm system. The first one was installed at Audio Express in Raleigh, NC, who I highly recommend to anyone that might be in need of audio installations and/or alarm systems. While I would have no problem allowing those guys to take car of my vehicle once more, I am much further away now so I started looking closer to home. Here on desertcart, the Viper systems have recommendations for audio and tilt sensors to be added, which is good to know and to purchase, but I learned one vital thing that without having a background in this aspect of electronics, it could be, would be, and will be the reason your pockets are a little lighter than necessary. When I learned from other customer reviews that Best Buy could install the Viper, I called and after telling a gentleman with the Geek Squad what I needed done, he asked if I had a bypass module. I asked if it was included with the Viper and he advised me it would be a separate purchase. He then said the bypass module at Best Buy cost $99, but the explanation given as to the purpose of the bypass module escaped me, but I knew that I needed to learn quickly. So, I called to Audio Express to find out what this module was and the gentleman broke its functions down for me but this time, he told me the brand I would need after getting my vehicle's make and model along with the price: $99. "Shoot."-that's what I thought. That brought me back here and guess what? The price was beaten by more than half, and it will be installed in the coming days. This module, according to the xpresskit.com website, covers 95% of the cars on the road today and is also the one found on BestBuy.com. The cost has a nice ring to it, sort of like a cash register. Update-4/10/2014: Today I had my Viper 5906V installed on my '07 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT. Although the tech told me many places will not install any alarm systems on a manual drive, he did not have a problem with it. I am not sure if the steps are the same for remote start on a manual versus an automatic, but the steps to get the remote start engaged feels much like Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson following that sequence of steps to open up the Batpole. Hahaha! As verified by other reviews, this Dball 2 should cover most vehicles, but there are exceptions so be sure to check xpresskit.com to verify what your vehicle will need. One thing I will have to get that I did not know the Viper lacked is a proximity sensor. When I had my first Viper installed back in 2008, I did not know this feature was not built into the alarm, but a proximity sensor was added so my lack of knowledge led me to believe a Viper had this already. Through the recommendation of desertcart, I purchased audio and tilt sensors, which are definitely needed, but especially since I have a fabric top, the proximity sensor is absolutely necessary. I hope this helps provide those who are novices like me to know ahead of time what all the parts that will make your Viper that much better. ~K.I.S.S~

## Questions & Answers

**Q: hi! i have a chevy suburban 2012 will this module already be programmed to work with my vehicle?**
A: No, firmware for your Vehicle will have to be downloaded from xpresskit.com web site. You will need a XKLOADER2. This can be purchase here on Amazon. Then you will go to the web site, download XpressVIP4.5 Installer.exe, next hook up XKLOADER2 with supplied usb cable to flash the DBALL2 with your correct firmware. On the website you will enter in your make and model #. Fortin, Omega are better bypass and interface modules with great tech support then Xpress but this one will work too. Hope this helps.

**Q: Is it true 3X Lock Start Feature is gone - As of October 1st, RSR firmware no longer supports the 3X Lock Start feature using your factory remote. ;-(**
A: http://www.xpresskit.com/news.aspx?newsid=24As of July 20 2015, yes you can again! you will have to check vehicle compatibility to be sure the intended vehicle is RSR compatible...

**Q: Hi, can I still flash it to my factory remote to start on 3x lock?**
A: How to flash? Can someone guide me

**Q: Does this work on 2004 nissan xtera**
A: This unit is normally used with the "Viper" remote starter sold on Amazon..If you intend to use it with another device you should consult your local car store equipment installer to make sure that both devices are compatible..

DEI makes great products. They make CLIFFORD, VIPER, PYTHON & AVITAL alarms so you have an idea of who they are. The DBALL2 is step up from the DBALL. Depending on Year, Make, & Model it will do the following -Send RF signal for Remote Start (Makes your car think key is in ignition) -Provides wires so you don't have to search for them in your car like... Hood pin - Trunk pin - Dome Light - Foot Brake - Parking Brake - Lights - Tachometer - Lock/Unlock - and more On some vehicles you can get a vehicle specific harness for the DBALL2 so literally just plug and play and save you even more time.
