If you want to understand Visual Basic or programming concepts in any language this is the right book. Any one of the sections from the first chapters on to object oriented programming, the .NET Framework, or programming with databases (including LINQ and the Entity Framework) are worth the price of the book. The examples in this book contain an exceptional display of logic, best practices, and Visual Basic syntax. Even though Visual Basic is up to 2017, the concepts and code in this book are still applicable. There are few changes in the IDE that are not covered in this book but even those are easy to apply once you've read this author's explanations and reviewed his code. This author provides the best code example I've seen to date for a math calculator. Least amount of code and best use of resources. This is my favorite VB book. After this, the book would serve as an excellent reference for your bookshelf.
