A saltwater solution is added to keep them pliable and fresh in the package until they are ready to use. It is non-harmful and ready to use straight from the package. Thanks for asking! **Q: Are these suitable for auto-glass? Will it scratch glass like the green pads will?** A: I'm not entirely sure, because I have not used it for auto glass. But, I can tell you that they do not scratch anything that I have used them on (like the green ones would). **Q: can I put these in the microwave to kill off bacteria?** A: fyi.. this does not kill of bacteria. bacteria like warm dark moist. all three or just 1 of the three. bleach is the only thing that kills bacteria. otherwise ANYTHING else will reduce the amount of bacteria. **Q: What's with the sponges turning the water blue? Will it stain clothing you are wearing? Are they safe to use?** A: I have used these sponges for several years now. If a sponge turns the water blue, then it is usually only during the first use. En el supermercado cuestan $27 - $30 c/u aproximadamente y aquí 18 esponjas por $210 aprox. así que creo que por el precio vale la pena probarlas. No rayan y hacen bien su trabajo.
