Whenever I visit family with my daughter, I bring a variety of toys. I like being able to pack them all up in one giant bag, which doubles as a play mat, and then to be able to pack them up again easily when we're ready to go home. I can even store the toys in the bag to grab and go for next time.The road map design makes this play mat extra fun and open-ended for imaginative play.Thick, quality canvas and lined on both sides (no raw seams). The outside of this bag has a cute lightning bolt pattern and the inside is a road map.Hefty rope and grommets - feels durable and well-constructed and I think it will hold up to kids playing on it.I like that the rope is hidden and runs through a tunnel of fabric. Some competitor's versions have the ropes exposed and the rope weaves in and out of grommets around the mat. I don't care for that look and it also seems like a safety hazard to me.CONS:I found it pretty difficult/time-consuming to cinch up the bag, which kind of defeats the purpose of quickly packing up the toys to go.It was also a bit time-consuming to convert the bag to a play mat again. Lots of smoothing out required if you want it to truly lay flat.Once you cinch the ropes and turn it into a bag, the exposed ropes are pretty long and would be considered a strangulation hazard for young babies/children as far as I'm concerned.It's like canvas, so not soft for babies or kids to play on. But soft enough, I guess.OVERALL:A useful product for parents who schlep around toys on a regular basis. I like it a lot. The design is fun. However, I think I will be returning this item because I feel it is overpriced and there are good enough alternatives out there that are more reasonably priced. Additionally, the difficulties I had in pulling the ropes to cinch it into a bag were a little bit too frustrating for me when the whole idea was to quickly pack up.NOTE:I also ordered a "Made in China" copycat version of this bag for about half the price to compare side by side. The photos in the listing were identical to the Play and Go version, so I was curious.The Play and Go bag is definitely superior in quality and appearance. The Chinese version is not lined with fabric on the back - it is only one layer thin and the outside of the bag is plain with exposed seams. The rope and grommets are also a lot less heavy-duty. The canvas is thinner and less pleasant than the Play and Go. I do not think it will hold up as well to kids sitting and playing on it. The canvas is pure white unlike the P&G which is a nice natural beige color.All that being said, if you want an item similar to this one and also want to save money, the Chinese copycat version may be a perfectly adequate alternative for you.
