Review: A perfect replacement for a defective HDHomeRun adapter - In the past year I've had two HDHomeRun TV tuners abruptly stop working. In both cases, the units powered up and were accessible using the HDHomeRun utility, but would not tune to a channel, leaving only a black screen when I attempted to make a recording. The problem was not the tuner itself, but instead a defective 5 VDC power adapter. Checking the output voltage on an oscilloscope showed that the 5 VDC output had become quite noisy, probably due to a defective filter capacitor. This adapter can be used as a direct replacement for the original Silicon Dust adapter. The maximum current rating is higher than that of the original adapter, but that will cause no problems, and in fact is a plus in terms of durability. This adapter is inexpensive and compact, and it works perfectly. Highly recommended if your HDHomeRun stops working out of warranty.

A: Maybe not. D-Link and Linksys may use different plugs. Electrically ok.  Push comes to shove, if you have the old Linksys power adapter, cut off the cord and splice it to the new D-Link adapter.

**Q: will this work for a roku 2?**
A: I bought this for my Roku 2, it did not work.

**Q: The heading says as 5V output while the product description says as 8V. Which is correct?**
A: It's d-link 5v 2.5a.

**Q: anyone know if this plug is the right size for a D-link dir-615?**
A: I'm pretty sure this is what I got for my dir-615. Note, though, that the plug that I got is not exactly like the picture.

It works well and has slightly higher amp rating than stock D-Link power supply. I've been using these adapters for several DL 1522 bridge/APs.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It put my D-link Router back in service

Although the power adapter did not look exactly like the photo or exactly like the original, it is a brand-name D-Link power adapter. The original D-Link adapter is notorious for failure, even without circumstances such as electrical storms or power surges. I'm thinking that this D-Link adapter is a replacement model number that (hopefully) has corrected this problem. It's the second time I've had to replace the original adapter,so I'm glad this worked perfectly, that it is a brand-name D-Link, and that it's a DIFFERENT model number adapter than what came with the router (which is known to have problems). Don't worry that it's not the same model number as your original. What you want to be sure is that the voltage is the SAME and the current is AT LEAST what is listed on your router (it's fine if the current on the adapter is greater than the current on the device - the device will only draw as much current as it needs as long as the adapter can supply sufficient current). (It's fine to power a 1.5 amp or 2.0 amp or 2.5 amp router with a 2.5 amp adapter, but you can't power a 3.0 amp router with a 2.5 amp adapter.)
