The shelf underneath is another nice feature. We love this unit. Figure on placing the towel rack at least 1.5 inches from the wall in order to be able to use the highest rung. The rack is solid enough to do that without any problem. Our old, small bathroom now has a whole new look and feel. I put our bath mat on the front lower bar and the larger longer towels on the back two bars. The house we bought didn't have towel racks in the master bath so this really helps in our situation. The two higher bars are adequate height for average bath towels. My husband assembled this, and he said it was easy except for putting it the shelf.
