Just like it's supposed to be. *by T***E on June 12, 2024* I haven't used a wooden bat to play baseball with since I was a kid. And I still don't use wooden bats - but really like the new composite bats. But they have sticky grip handles and using pine tar on a sticky grip handle would just be weird. However! I do play the drums and use little, tiny baseball bats (7A's or 5B's) to whack the skins with. And a major problem I've had over the years is getting hand cramps from having to grip down hard on the sticks (to keep them from sliding out of my hands). Many of the major drumstick manufacturers have now started adding sticky handles to their sticks. The problem I've had is that those sticky sticks cause blisters- typically on my middle finger (and I know other drummers who have had similar outcomes). Just a little, tiny, dab of pine tar on the butt end of the drum stick makes the stick sticky enough that I don't have to grip down hard, but not so sticky that the stick rubs against my fingers and causes blisters. The only downside is I can't really touch anything else other than the stick or it gets pine tar all over it.
