But they work great in my lathe or drill press. **Q: For those of us who actually use collets and vertical mills, what is the shank diameter??** A: The shank diameters are 7/16", 5/16", 4/16", 3/16", and 2/16". The shanks are labeled #5HSS, #4HSS, #3HSS, #2HSS, #1HSS which are totally meaningless to me. No diameters are labeled on the shanks so I had to measure them with a metal ruler. Hope this helps. **Q: Alex c. Why would i purchase something just to measure it and find it dosent fit a standard collet?** A: Most people use them in drill chuck with morse taper.
