I just want to track my morning walks to be sure I’ve gone at least 2 miles. I also slide the battery half way out when not in use to preserve battery life. I have a couple of walking routes that I already know the mileage on, and I was happy to see this was very accurate with step count. **Q: Does it accurately count elliptical “steps”?** A: I know that when I'm working out it will count my steps as long as my legs allow a moving motion then it will count as a step. It picks up movements that cause a jolt in the leg and hip level. I hope this helps **Q: How convert steps to distance?** A: It doesn’t convert. It just counts your steps. It easy though to convert by mutiplying number of the steps by the average lenght of a step and divide the results by 12 to obtain the distance in feet. **Q: How does it convert to miles?** A: It's an approximation but about 10k steps is 5 miles. Comes with clip, lanyard, battery. ### ⭐ Defective *by J***E on April 11, 2026* I actually purchase this product a year or more ago and worked perfectly fine however it somehow fell off in the garage and I ran over it. So I went ahead and purchased the exact same model however this one does NOT work. Almost daily, it randomly resets back to zero so I cannot accurately count my steps. For example I may be at 2400 steps and then the next time I look and it’s at 300 steps. At first I thought maybe I just touched it near the reset button and accidentally reset but it happens all the time so it’s absolutely a defect. Unfortunately I realized it was a defect too late and the return window is closed. Save your money and try a different pedometer that works.
