The flap seems to always be in the way. I have gotten this leather case wet dropped it(alot) had it stolen by my 2y/o with no damage to my phone which has no screen protector. But that damn flap. For now I just take my phone out of the case to take pictures of my tattoos. Then put it right back in when I'm done. Because that flap is just rude when you're taking a video.As far as the construction, it is indeed leather. The spot for cash could be a bit looser because I have to fight to get cash in and out of it.
