I am able to easily blow the damper doors open with my own breath and the doors work perfectly with the kitchen exhaust fan that this was installed above. Additionally, the damper valve assembly did not contort its form or warp in any way when installed. Again, solid construction. Make sure to install in the correct orientation so the damper doors will open and close with gravity (no spring is used). Made in USA (Idaho, I believe) When shopping around at Home depot and Lowes they only carried very low quality damper valves that did not function correctly, and appeared to barely hold together. Save the headache and don't buy low quality stuff that will not work, even when newly installed. Very satisfied with this product. I ordered this piece so that the wind wouldn’t blow back through the vent or make clapping noises.
