## Description

Breakout from David Bowie's "Who Can I Be Now? 1974-1976" Box Set. Originally released on RCA APL1 1327 on 23rd January, 1976.

Review: Amazing Collection for the Special Edition - I saw the full Deluxe edition, and I must admit I did want that, but I wanted so many other CDs music, and DVDs that I had to compromise. I have bought some of the super fan collections of items, but I can't do that with every set. I will admit that this has the great material, a remastered Station to Station, which I had only heard certain tracks in collections before, so the first disc ( The Studio Album) is great, with awesome detail in the mix, and the live double disc is new to me, but is still a great set, whether heard before or not, its a unique performance and great to listen to, since Bowie is one of those performers who give each date a unique edge, and the other musicians give the studio version plus something extra so that you get an extra bonus for sure. The Set has a bunch of great items, the booklet is a part of a larger set that must be the Deluxe set with everything thrown in, but it still looks great in the booklet set since it gives a great insight, and I am sure the book will come out for a while as an item for fans. I remember seeing Bowie sometime around this period on the Kenny Everett show, and he was a total scream. Whilst the Studio album is great all around, tracks 2,5, and 6 are ones that stand out and have been the perennials. The live discs have varying degrees of greatness, but I enjoy things like the very evocative tone of track 15 ( FIVE YEARS) which has a continuation of the studio style, but that was lacking a little in tone, so the live version has somewhat more power. At various points in the Live discs, it speeds up tracks as you might know them, which is pretty standard for live albums, and Panic in Detroit is where the Band is introduced. The rest of the Live Album is a great experience in my opinion, even when compared to , for example, the GLASS SPIDERS tour, which had something else added to it that made it have a very different tone. But both of these shows are top arguments for Video-ed shows, or at the very least having Large Screens, since both here and in some other Continents, the performances are almost indecernible with the theatrics without a large screen if you are more than 15 rows back. The little extras are great. The booklet has photos of Tickets, but I would have liked the approach some special editions did where the Laminates were reproduced. Minor but significant. the Special edition overall is a great buy, but if you can afford the deluxe edition, go for it, I know that with deluxe editions in other cases, I bought it, and with the right package, it is a great buy for fans, maybe not so good for the casual listener. And in that theme, if you want an intro to Bowie from this period without a Nosebleed price, the Special edition is pretty good. And you can get the studio Album on its own if you just want that for a new listener. At the very least you can appreciate the musicianship. But, I was happy with the Special edition, I just wish I could have got the Deluxe version/edition.
Review: It's not the side effects of the cocaine ... It Must Be Love! - It's never too late to listen to this classic. I am guilty for not paying too much attention to David Bowie before death other than his hits. I bought this album because it was always so loved and praised by his true fans (Which I hope to be considered as one day). Station to Station was weird for me at first, only six songs? And the hit single isn't even one of my favorites (Golden Years). But once I endured the art piece as a whole, I was changed. Now I know why David Bowie was more than a legend, he was an innovator. It has been 40 years (!?) since it was released and it still sounds timeless! 1) Station to Station - Easily 10/10, the title track is honestly my favorite, it's quirky, its long (10 min), and it feels like 2 or 3 different songs smashed into one. I love the almost 3 minute intro to the chorus, and bridge, this song is such a trip. 2) Golden Years - 10/10 Didn't like it too much at first but this disco jam grew onto me and it's easily accessible. 3) Word on a Wing - 10/10; ballad-like song that I can describe as truly BEAUTIFUL. 4) TVC15 - 10000/10 FUNKY. It is one of my favorite songs from the album (#2) and of Bowie's catalog. 5) Stay - 10/10 - The beginning guitar riffs that rips and punctures throughout the song is what truly makes me love this song. 6) Wild is the Wind 10/10 - It slows down here a bit like in Word on a Wing. The final song of the album and Bowie's vocals are ... wow. Phenomenal song. Perfect ending. NO FILTERS, NO FILLERS, NO GIMMICKS, IT IS THE RETURN OF THE THIN WHITE DUKE. RIP Starman <3

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mesmerizing to say the least
*by J***E on January 25, 2014*

Suffice it to say, I guess every Bowie fan has their own "favorite" Album by the Thin White Duke. Station to Station is not my favorite, however, it is definitely a close second. It seems that over the years, Bowie has set alive music to suit almost everyone's tastes as he has morphed himself and his incredible library of work into so many musical moods and styles. For one reason or another, I never really gave Station to Station my full attention when it was first released and I'm amazed I didn't. Now, many years later, I have rediscovered this 30 some-odd-plus minute piece of work and only now, listening to the album in 2014, I'm totally WOWED by what I can only explain as...an experience. One writer mentioned that the album should be listened to from beginning to end without jumping tracks. The writer was right! The title song, Station to Station is truly reminiscent of a train leaving the station as the tempo starts out methodically slow then builds up steam and takes you on a journey preparing you for the rest of the musical numbers. When I received the album, I made time to shut out the world, pop in the CD, put my headphones on and begin my 1/2 hour journey through 1976 Bowieland. Each song on this album complements the next and by the time you're done with the last song, 'Wild is the Wind', you want to re-board the train and listen to this body of musical wonder all over again...and again. Although some may not agree, I ordered the 24 Bit Digitally Remastered copy and I'm glad I did. The sound and clarity is incredible. If you are a new fan to the Duke's music, I recommend giving Station to Station a listen to. Once you've heard it, you'll find yourself replaying the music in your mind for days to come. The music resonates that deeply. It is an amazing piece of work and a half hour of sheer Bowie bliss.
