On the leather must be greater than 800… my guess. It’s probably in the literature somewhere. **Q: Will this product sharpen Barbers Shears/scissors?** A: I don't see this sharpener being able to sharpen scissors when setup in the fixture **Q: What is the largest knife it will sharpen** A: Not sure about the largest knife, but it can extend and sharpen an 11 inch brisket carving knife. As well as a 4 inch wide cleaver easily. On long blades one may have to help support the knife though **Q: Can this sharpen Leatherman knives?** A: It works better on bigger knives, but I think you can use it to sharpen a leather man. Probably not the small blade but the bigger one.
