When the timer beeps shut it off using the CLEAR or STOP button. Then hit CLEAR and there is your memory function. It's not as bad as I originally thought and am giving 4 stars. Good for seniors as it is very LOUD, which can be helpful or annoying. I am more likely to hear it from my workshop now, but I like an older softer one right next to me in the kitchen, for example. The whole body and especially the numbers are HUGE, which could make them easier to read, but in practice the latent LCD numbers can disrupt your vision of the activated LCD numbers unless your view is quite square and direct, making it unreadable until ones position is changed in relation to the timer. This is most of the time, from most any angle except direct, and ambient lighting may be playing a role. A nice plus is that it uses a standard AAA battery.
