Review: Yep! - Exactly what I wanted...an inexpensive box fan that could sit atop four 11 Merv filters (formed into a box shape...you can look up Corsi-Rosenthal Box project) to pull air up and through the filters. I'm so sick of buying the $300.00 Sharper Image air filters that break in a year...so...I built my own (no, it's not pretty, but by George it works! I don't even have to DUST anymore! ). This fan is perfectly functional for the project, with just the /right/ amount of noise (I have it in the bedroom, so it's perfect to 'sleep' to) and airflow is exactly as expected.
Review: Drowns out most local traffic - I got this purely as a white noise generator, and it does that very well even on the lowest setting. My house is on a trucking route and there's a stoplight about 50ft from our driveway. It's around 30ft from my bedroom window to the road. This thing isn't magic, it won't drown out house-rumbling sounds like full dump-trucks or revving motor-bikes, or super-high-pitched sounds like the squeal of a failing break pad, but it does work for about 70-80% of noise. In the summer my window AC unit does the job, so I use this in the winter. When I first got it there was also a small clicking sound as the fan rotated, and I saw there was some contact between the hub and some part of the frame. It seems to have fixed itself after running for about a day.

**Q: Is this reversible - like to use as an exhaust?**
A: Rotate the fan 180 degrees. No, not that direction, the other way. There you go

**Q: is it quiet?**
A: It really depends on what you mean by quiet. You can hear it on low speed but it is not annoying. As you increase the speed, the sound because more noticeable. I would say that it is just as quiet as a 20" bladed fan can be. It is the blades rotating in the air that make the sound. The only way to reduce the sound would be to decrease the blade's angle-of-attack or decrease the fan's rotation speed. Either one results in less air movement. Sound is air movement, therefore, more air movement (which is what fans do) equals more sound. I hope that this helps.

**Q: does the cord come out of the middle of the back where the motor is, or does it still come out of the bottom of the back?**
A: The cord comes out the bottom right corner.

**Q: Is it loud? I'm looking for a loud box fan, for sleeping.**
A: Yes, it's loud but also has a horrible plastic smell and because it's just plastic, it easily tips over. It's junk in my opinion and I'm getting ready to return it.

I use a fan year-round for white noise and air flow. This fan fills the bill nicely. Only complaint so far is with the feet. They don't click into place and fall off every time I move it.
