**Q: Do you plug one in all 4 usb ports on the macbook pro? Or only one and leave the other 4 ports free?**
A: I'm not sure, I would contact an Apple sales or coffee shop. 

I would suspect only one needs to be used, but I got mine for my phone (Android) that only has one port.
