They are absolutely perfect for use with the the manifold systems available from Orbit or Action Machining. They both support the valve and eliminate the need to use bricks or other blocking material to hold the box off of the pipes. The only downside is that they only make the base in one size and it only fits 12-inch-height valve boxes (I've used this base with both Orbit and NDS boxes) Tips for a perfectionist install: 1. When you install the "mousehole" covers on your valve box, drill a small hole through the cover and the box near the top of the cover (rounded end) and use an appropriate sized stainless steel sheet metal screw (or a stainless steel machine screw and a matching nut) to permanently secure the mousehole cover to the box. 2. Cut a piece of landscaping fabric (weed barrier) about 8 inches longer and wider than the base, and put it under the base before you install your valves and pipes. This keeps mud from seeping up from below. 3. If you are using pipe smaller than 1-inch, stuff some wadded-up pieces of landscaping fabric around the pipe where they go through the base. This keeps mud from seeping through the gaps between the pipes and the base. 4. I used an NDS 113BC Standard Series Valve Box Cover. Pretty sure any 14X19 inch valve box will work. If you got a 4 valve set up this base is awesome with the orbit manifolds. Makes for a very neat and orderly installation. I put a base of gravel under the base for additional stability but just using this base will keep your valves from sinking in to the ground over time. Hope this helps. **Q: I have a 12x17 valve box. The description says it will fot 12" and bigger? I dont understand** A: Hey Julie. They give a lot of verbiage but not the info that you need! Some valve boxes like what you already have are 21-1/2”L x 16”W. Others are 26-1/8” X 19-5/8W. But like you found, the bases don’t say exactly which box they fit! Some times I’ll order two sizes and return the one that doesn’t work. It’s SO easy to return things that are described inaccurately. Not much help but if enough people complain when returning stuff we’ll get their attention. The base itself it awesome. Before I had it ants & slugs came up through the soil & inhabited the inside of my box. Suggestion though, dig it deep enough so you can lay some plastic or weed barrier material down, then cover that with a couple inches of small pea gravel **Q: Why does the valve keep running when it should be off?** A: There may be dirt or a hole perhaps in diaphram. There is also a small port at the front of valve body better seen on disassembly,that can be stopped up **Q: One picture shows the base with a green topped cover. Also compatible with NDS riser cover box *by J***O on June 17, 2023* This was a great base to incorporate your pass through fitting/lines. And works with a NDS base with minimal cutting. Before finding this I figured I was going to have to notch the cover box. Once you get the base in place you simply set the top on it.
