It might be easier to have someone read each step to as you input them on the thermostat. Good luck. **Q: How do i take the lock off?** A: White Rodgers Customer Service is excellent. 888-725-9797 or 800 284 2925 **Q: How does it switch to fossil fuel heat?** A: Automatically. There's usually a preset temperature (mine is 25 F) for the temp at which it should switch over. Alternatively, you can choose to run on fossil. **Q: can it be used for heater only?** A: Not sure I quite understand the question regarding "heater". But this thermostat can be used for heat or cooling and it can be used with a heat pump (which is exactly how I am using it). --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.at/products/41939797-1f85u-42pr](https://www.desertcart.at/products/41939797-1f85u-42pr) --- *Product available on Desertcart Austria* *Store origin: AT* *Last updated: 2026-10-08*
