Molly goes into a deep depression, but, unknown to her, Sam has come back as a ghost in order to protect her from danger-although he isn't yet aware who or what means her harm, and he has a lot of learning to do in order to make himself known to her. He teams up with an unwilling psychic, Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg), and together they try to convince a very skeptical Molly that Sam was actually murdered and has returned spectrally to complete some unfinished business. However, once I became engrossed with the story (that won an Oscar as best Original Screenplay) I became even more engrossed in the story line. All three lead performances by Patrick Swazee, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg are first rate. Goldberg won the film's second Oscar as Best Supporting Actress. She deserved the honor. She adds significant colorful humor yet she makes the scary parts credible. The movie belongs in the classics category. And, for viewers who have not seen the film since its original debut, it is definitely time to revisit this exciting movie. The erotic love scenes are prominent, but to this viewer not inappropriate. They underscore the great love between the Swazee and Moore characters. For a "scary" movie, the film has a lot of humor. The musical score is also a definite plus. The necessary ending is perfectly correct. See this great film for the first time or the tenth time. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.
