When I tried to interface the device with my dads computer, the card had a spat with the new OS, and locked my mini SD card into write protection hell. I ended up throwing away the mini SD card, and ordering another one. I wished I hadn't because I found out after I got the new one that it wasn't the card that was faulty, but this device had apparently found some way to break itself because my brand new mini SD card was also in write protection mode. I tried my card on a friends adapter on both my old XP which I had used with it a lot using, and the new Vista, and it worked fine, so the only logical culprit has to be this. I'm giving this item 3 stars because even though it ended up breaking on me, I have gotten good products that others complain about with quality, and I will admit that I may have been a little rough on it because I constantly carried it in my pocket, and I do tend to be active in my outdoor jeans. I will not order another one however, as I am looking for something sturdier than this.Pretty much, I would recommend this to some of my co-workers or family, but certainly not any of my friends. Pay a little extra for the extra protection from shock. I found it odd that even though it was obviously broken, and it's task is so simple and involves no moving parts, that the device even worked on my computer at all, even if it did lock my card. You insert your micro-card into the reader slot, put the whole thing into a USB port and you can use the micro card like a normal jump drive. Makes moving pictures, videos and songs from my cell phone to a computer very easy.
