It makes them easier to handle. However, I bought another brand of neck hanging reading glasses and they had opening hinges that allow one to open the ear pieces wide to get them on the neck. When I didn't need to use these to see, I would slip them around my neck and they would stay there throughout almost any activity. I stopped trying to wear my regular readers and even collected all the extra sets that I had staged in various places around the house, because I thought I didn't need all those extras anymore. Well, that was a premature decision.Since I bought these back in June of 2021, they have slowly quit staying in place; kinda like a really old pair of socks that won't stay up any longer. Although these are not really old and one would expect that a pair of $22 readers would work as intended for much longer-- like years longer. Anyway, they now won't stay "wrapped" around my neck for most activities without slipping off. The slipping off has gotten so common that I can anticipate the moment when they will slip off and catch them before they fall somewhere unfortunate, like in my rosebushes or the lake.I take very good care of my glasses, that is why I would expect years of "huggable" service out of these.
