Is it a true 5/8" or a bit smaller?** A: They measure 1 5/8" as near as I can tell. **Q: what is the distance from the face side of the wall-mounted plate to the center of the pin?** A: On my gate It appears to be 1” 3/32. Not sure if this dimension will have strict uniform quality control! **Q: What length and type screwseede** A: Hex Screws 1/2" is what I used 2.5" long. But length will depend on what you are mounting it on. I have 6x6 posts so could have gone longer but not necessary. They could also have been 5/8" diameter as the hole is larger than the 1/2" I used. Length & Diameter would also depend on how heavy the gate is. Mine is an old tubular gate fairly heavy and 11' long.
