I had a foundation leak that would have cost thousands to fix with the traditional excavation, and barrier membrane type fix. I read and followed the instructions and applied it to the inside of the wall in minutes. Now it all stays dry. The little nifty crystals must form pretty fast to block water penetration. I can't believe they hold up to the tremendous hydrostatic pressure at the bottom of the wall. Since I'm in the US I purchased through a U.S. distributor, working with Salmon Bay. There were some hiccups with processing (desertcart service was exemplary) and then delivery (hey, trucks break down! but Salmon Bay came through above and beyond) so I find myself able to recommend all three entities with 5*. When everything moves smoothly (which is, of course, the goal) then life is good. The long answer is it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.(yes and no) If an epoxy injection has failed to stop water then you will need to chip and grind the epoxy away and make sure you have a clean and saturated substrate prior to Xypex treatment. If your goal is to stop water make sure you use both Xypex Concentrate and Xypex patch n plug. If you are wanting the Xypex to adhere to the epoxy and grow crystals through the concrete somehow after it gets through the epoxy to decrease permeability in the concrete then the answer is no. Xypex works with concrete not epoxy. Xypex is cementitious and similar to concrete, epoxy is foreign and with waterproofing is more of a blocker instead of healing concrete. Xypex is hydrophilic and has a catylytic affinity to water, epoxy is hydrophobic and wants to block water. Sometimes we use both to accomplish the same goal but I suppose if you wanted to coat your walls with Xypex Concentrate adjacent to the cracks that are filled with epoxy you are good to go. The Xypex will grow up until the point where the epoxy injection is, obviously depending on the porosity and permeability of your concrete but in that case yes it would be like a belt and suspenders approach. **Q: Can I use this product to seal my damp basement concrete block wall?** A: YES! THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS FOR! The REASON Xypex is so expensive is because it not only fills in cracks and creates a protective border but it actually EXPANDS inside cracks or where ever there is a need! Of the twenty plus people that have used this to waterproof their basement we have not only not had EVEN ONE complaint, but have been thanked numerous times! I used it on my Mom's basement-she had fought it for 45 years trying everything and once we used the Xypex on it 4 years ago NOT A DROP OF WATER LEAKS IN ANY LONGER! Dave **Q: Will it work on concrete that has some paint or coloring on it? I wouldn't think so, but thought I would ask...** A: You will want to remove as much paint as possible. For the remaining paint, as long as that stays adhered to the wall, the product should stick ok to it. 80-90% removal is really what you are looking for. It was not, however, the seller's problem; the difficulty originated at the point in which the material itself was bagged and tinned. The seller, however, immediately got back with us, even over a holiday, and all seems well. As for the product itself, it seems to be doing the job, although, by its very nature, it will take many months before we know with certainty what the long-term outcome will be. For now, however, we are seeing a dramatic improvement overall. We have had to put a second coat on a few (very few) spots; however, that is one of the things we are supposed to do in areas most adversely affected.
