Review: It's quiet to my ears.... - Admittedly, my aquarium is in the living room with a bunch of other things that make noise; I've got three Eheim 2217s canister filters, a home theater amplifier fan, and a Drinkwell pet fountain running. So it's not a noiseless "bedroom environment". That said, this air pump is quieter than any of the aforementioned "noise makers" to the point I don't even know it's on. As to longevity, I haven't had it long enough to know if this pump is going to go the distance. Regarding how strong the pump is, I honestly just wanted it to be strong enough to drive an air stone and provide additional surface agitation at night. I've got a heavily planted tank, run CO2 during the day, and already have pretty good surface agitation. The air pump/air stone is just for added insurance at night that I'm bringing down CO2 levels. If you've got a fish-only tank and this pump is your primary surface agitator/oxygenator, your mileage may vary.
