AND I LOOOVE THIS ROLLER TO GO ON THE END OF MY NO JAB CANE! - Okay to begin I have an eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa or R.P. for short. I have not wanted to buy a can for a long time let alone a white cane because I didn't want to look old. With my eye disease I only have 2 percent periphial vision (To best describe it: It is like if you took two paper towel rolls and put them over your eyes. That is how far to the side or down I see. Going down stairs or a change in the ground I do not see. When I don't see, I fall. Example, One fall I miss stepped going down my back stairs out of my home and fell down the stairs. Now in a different home and there is a sidewalk drop off of a foot to keep the the rain away from the house. Two days before leaving for to see my son walk for his college graduation (a 27 hour flight away) I mis-stepped fell face first rolling both my ankles. Nothing broken I traveled by wheelchair. I was in that chair 3 1/2 months. I wanted to tell you my back story because those injuries woke me up! I first discovered the NO-JAB cane and then I bought this ball to change out on it. Actually I bought two of them. After reading the reviews I told myself I wanted a back up plan. Most people will get a aregular cane. That doesn't work for me, atleast I don't feel comfortable with that. While I was waiting for it to arrive I started viewing Youtube videos on using a white cane. UGH Okay, get over my bad self! I had a friend change the balls out for me and out the door I walked, ready to test this bad boy out. I love it!!! Part of me wished the ball was made of the material of a cue ball for pool but that is just a personal opinion. They probably don't do that because it would be too heavy for many. The ball is durable so far. It's been about 10 months. I bought this bigger ball because it works better across bricks and cobblestone, which is great for vacation like our trip to Venice! I have found that due to my personal lack of vision I don't need to swipe wide with it I just roll it in body width in front of me and between the sound and being able to tell the change in the ground it helps guide me to step up, across or around something. Put on the No-Jab cane it bounces back when it runs into an obstacle so you don't get jolted but you are really aware of the change. This pruchashe actually changed my daily life and helped me to feel more independent again! I hope this product is around for a very long time! I will buy again in the future if/when it wears out.
