We lost our first one and discovered the remote is necessary for programming our Element TV. We bought a universal remote, but it couldn't replace the original remote's functionality. We sat in frustration with no way to view movies or our favorite shows. Customer Service explained that the Element remote is the only one that would work. We found one on Amazon and thank goodness for Prime's speedy shipping!  Oops! Gotta go--the movie is starting! LOL
