Review: IT WORKS - We had a significant cluster fly problem in our shop loft; seriously, had to be thousands of flies up there. Tried hanging fly strips, which was useless with that number of flies (or even if we only had a few--who wants those things hanging down all over the place?). Tried those small sticky traps--the kind you put near your baseboards for insects and mice--and those caught quite a few flies, but only if they happened to land on them, and they were too small for our purpose. Tried leaning them up against the windows, but they eventually "flowed" down the backing and made gooey messes on our sills. Tried the window sticky fly traps from Black Flag--worked great, but then you see all these flies stuck on the windows. Then we heard about light fly traps, and after reading the reviews, decided on this Gardner WS 85 model. Well, within one minute of installing this light (which was so easy--hang it up using the provided screws, place one of the long sticky traps on the ledge under the lamp in the fixture, and plug it in), there were a dozen flies on the trap! And they just kept coming--the light drew them in, and the sticky trap nabbed'em. The instructions said to change the trap every month, but we had to replace them every day for the first week (as I mentioned, we had a pretty serious infestation), and now we change it every few days; the fly population has diminished significantly, and we are hopeful this will keep them under control until we can deal with preventive measures next spring. In fact, we are so pleased with how this fly trap works we bought another, in the hopes that having multiple units will really keep their numbers in check for the time being. PROS: Fast delivery, easy installation, draws the flies (and other insects as well!) to the trap, trap is sticky enough to hold insects, easy to change traps, no chemicals or odors to deal with, the fixture is decent-looking, of decent quality, and holds the trap in such a way that you don't have to see all the insects on them; IT WORKS! CONS: A bit pricey, so are the replacement traps and light bulbs, but for our purposes well worth it; cheaper than an exterminator! To be fair, I've seen regular light fixtures that are not as nice looking as this one that cost more.
Review: Great for life in the country - I bought this sconce for our home when we moved out to the country 8 1/2 years ago, and couldn't be happier with it. We have woods on one side and horses on the other. So a LOT of flying bugs find their way into our house, and most of them find their way into the trap pretty quickly. Fills within a few weeks with moths, gnats, wasps, houseflies, and mosquitos. The original ballast lasted for those 8 1/2 years, with the light on nearly constantly. It's finally gone bad. Finding a replacement it is as easy as searching for the catalog number (IG13-20EL) here on desertcart and paying $20 (as of March 2024). Installation takes 10 minutes, and requires nothing more than screwing and unscrewing wire nuts.

A: We plug them in each night when the restaurant is closed.  You could easily hard wire them.

**Q: does this lso work as. disinfectant or odor reducing light?**
A: No. These are lights with glue boards only.

**Q: How do I assemble this item, and where does the sticky strip go?**
A: No assemble in required, the WS-85 is shipped assembled.  The glue board is placed behind the lamp, you will see stays behind the lamp that you can slide the glue board in for proper placement and to keep it in place.

**Q: Does this trap attract mosquitos?**
A: The Gardner WS-85 Wall Scone Fly Light is labeled for flying insects, such as mosquitoes, flies, gnats, etc.

Product only lasted 6 months before blowing bulbs. Contacted Amazon & Gardner, but no help. Recommend NOT buying this product!!! Gardner contacted me several weeks after this post. They sent replacement at no charge. Very happy with customer service. Changed from 1 star to 4.
