Offers 3 options to detect so can review watermarks, security strips and cotton rag paper. Can also see holograms and security features on many driver's licenses. I say light usage because it is built from plastic so a misplaced hand on top of the unit, accidental placement of a heavy object, or a fall to the ground will likely break off the light bar on top of the unit. Be aware of the unit's construction and it should do a good job. I have used it several times already. Can't say I found a bad bill, but that is a good thing to have ensured I took good cash. Only had unit for a shot time, but these have been around for a while. You can replace the detector pen if you accidentally lose it or let it dry out before it's time. The same company sells the widely used pen used for cotton rag paper detection. This unit will show holograms and other security features of Non-US bills but the security stripe detection alignment marks are designed for US bills. As a former banker, it works.
