The pliers didn't distort the ring at all after sliding a large hook into it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well with large split rings and 5/0 hooks, but... *by K***N on December 14, 2024* I bought these pliers so that I could more easily swap out my treble hooks with inline single hooks. The replacement hooks I use are mostly 4/0 and 5/0 saltwater hooks. The pliers are able to open the split rings wide enough to get the hook eyes onto the ring. Then I use a pair of long needle nose pliers to work the hook fully onto the split ring. My only complaint after a year of using these pliers is that the jaws have twisted a bit and no longer line up one exactly over the other. The pivot screw allows for minimal tightening, but the jaws seem to loosen up quickly. Not the end of the world.
