Preamps, as the name implies, come before the amplifier but after the cartridge. **Q: Can i use this instead of my turntable preamp** A: if you have a turntable with a preamp on the circuit board you can bypass it, but it will still be sending the audio through the circuit so yes, but in order to truly bypass your internal preamp you need to disconnect it from the board and resolder the wires back. That is what i did with my AP LP 120 it was kind of a pain but if you know how to solder can be done relatively quickly, not sure it was worth the risk tbh. **Q: Will this ever be back in stock? For something advertised as pairing perfectly with your turntables it seems to have been out of stock forever** A: It is in stock now (12/2/2020) on Amazon.com. Arrives before Christmas. **Q: How is this turned on or off??** A: The is no power switch. It draws less than half a watt. There is no muffling or distortion to any part of the audio spectrum. The rumble filter should be left off unless you have speakers on the same cabinet as your record player which I would never advise as all it does is cut the sub bass out to stop the needle skipping from your speakers vibrations. I've personally had Rega, Musical Fidelity, Cambridge and Schiit preamps and they covered the £99-£299 range and I would rank those as follows: 1st: This Fluance Preamp 2nd: Cambridge Audio Alva £299 (If you only have MC then go for this) 3rd: Schiit Mani 2 £170 4th: Musical Fidelity V90-LPS £175 5th: Rega Fono Mini A2D £99 6th The preamp on my Wiim Ultra 7th The preamp on my Klipsch Fives (truly awful) Kit used: Flurance RT-85 with Ortofon Blue MM > Preamps > Douk RCA 4 Way Selector > Wiim Ultra > Usb C to Usb B input on Hifiman EF499 DAC > RCA Out > Klipsch Fives McLaren.
