After fiddling around with the regulator and trying again, I got a fire ball that nearly singed off my hair. After that, it worked perfectly. I've never encountered anything like that with either of my previous gas fire rings. So I had to remove the bracket and make my own... But other than that this thing is stupid proof ... Awesome material as well...
