There is a slightly darker tone to the graphics and a subtle haze in the air. Its beautiful. The players are constantly talking trash to eachother in the background, the music selection is energetic too. You can tell metal heads were involved, in a good way too. It really reminds me of a time when the real NFL was more violent, but captured and presented through modern technology. The hard hits, colliding/tumbling bodies and gang tackles are just delicious. Sometimes a WR gets hit when catching the ball and i literally react to it like "uwwww!". The crowds baseline energy and noise is higher then other madden where and the crowd remains engaged in the action more then other years crowds do. The game just feels more alive. And with tuned sliders the outcomes are dynamic, realistic, and just outright fun and exciting. Passing is awesome yet appropriately challenging, when tuned right and the run game is realistic as well. Somehow they made football more exciting in the game, with its gameplay and aesthetic then in real life, while retaining the simulation aspect of football. I also make 32 custom teams and started a franchise with all 32. So, I basically have my own football league going on and its a lot of fun seeing how things unfold as time passes. All uniforms and stadiums are customized.. Anyway Its a fantastic game and I believe this title is overlooked despite being very special. No other madden has the vibe this one has. It's raw, atmospheric, smashmouth/weighty, vintage style football. Other maddens either feel too arcade-ish(earlier years) or too clean/sterile and lightweight. My ONLY gripe is that I don't like how the players look when they are running. Everything else is a cheifs kiss. Excellent game! This is the best Madden since the Super Nintendo days. What makes it a great installment are the much improved graphics, the increased AI, the improved running game, the more realistic pass defense, and the SLIDERS!! Most of all the sliders. You can change any aspect of the game, on both sides of the ball. You can even change the speed of the game if you want to see each play develop more slowly, so play action passes actually have the potential to work for a change. My favorite slider is the "speed threshold". This widens the gap between slow lineman and quick running backs. No longer will Adrian Peterson be caught from behind by a defensive end. You can really see the ratings and differences in players shine through this year. If you have your third string QB in the game, he will struggle with accuracy. Good runners break tackles, and good linebackers make tackles. You will actually notice an improved awareness on star players. Injuries are much improved as well this year. If your QB has a sore elbow, you make the decision to play him or not at his dimished ability. You have control over every single aspect of this game. If you don't like it out of the box, tweak it to perfection. EA finally gave the player full control to make the game the way THEY want it. I'm in my third season of franchise mode and I the only possible complaint I can offer is that in one game I had three kickoffs run back against me. But A) it never happened again and B) my special teams is horrible. It took awhile but they nailed it this season. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ when will Madden have the blimp view again? *by M***S on September 27, 2009* ok, Madden is the best football series of all time in my opinion, but there are some issues that I want to be fixed. I'd like to have a wider field view option in which the players are smaller. secondly, it upsets me when on-line opponents call an on-side kick, and you have to call a time out because you can't remember the buttons to reset to a regular kick off return. another complaint is the accelerated clock while playing on-line. if I see the defense is calling a run defense, I'll audible to a different package and the time runs out.
