The ties are about 3 inches below my waist, so when I tie it, I lose 3 inches of length. I bought this to cover my knees when seated, and it doesn't reach. Even with the neck strap at the shortest setting, the top part part bunches and hangs out away from my body, which gets in my way. Don't believe the photos where the apron hangs straight down. It doesn't hang like that if you tie it. Edit after wearing it a while: I found a way to sort of fold it up so that I can tie it at my waist.
