My wife and I love the movie, so I was a little worried about reading the book - but the book was really good. And although some of the movie scenes and dialogue were almost word for word out of the book, there are many differences that make the story line of the book just as interesting. My wife read it too and she liked it, so I don't think anyone should worry about the book being offensive to women either. Fletch in the book is the antihero, but not as bad as you think if you read between the lines. And he is an amazing investigative reporter as mentioned in other reviews. All in all, 5 stars! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Quite Good *by A***P on Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2018* I wasn't sure what to expect, honestly. The film was fantastic and Chevy Chase made Fletch so much like himself that I doubted the book version could live up to the film. The good news is that you don't really need to compare the two because the book Fletch, while similar, really stands apart from the film version. Beyond that, the plot is good. The story is similar to the film, but different enough that you don't really know what's coming. The pacing is excellent; it never drags. I really enjoyed the writing style, though many will find it "challenging" because the author's style in minimalist and he never tells you who is speaking.All told, I would say the book is an experiment in style that worked really well. The character is complex, interesting, and hilarious. The plot is interest with an interesting twist at the end in terms of motivation.
