These are great and work very well. Hope that helps **Q: Is the thread size on the quick release any where on this post?** A: I just got mine. It's 1/2-20 fine thread. However, it only fits 1/4" flagpoles, not 5/16" as advertised. So I will be returning mine. **Q: The quick-release base turns around without staying in place. Could that cause the flag to keep turning around?** A: Yes, it could spin around. There is a little friction in getting it to turn 360 degrees so it is a little resistive to spinning. In use moving, it will stay in place flag will not spin and go in the direction of movement. I love this quick release.
